I had the immense privilege of playing for over 50 weddings and events in 2022, an unprecedented amount. As you can imagine, the requests for harp covers at the weddings were hugely varied, but there were a few songs which I played time and again. These songs really work as harp covers for your wedding and I can highly recommend choosing one or all of them! 10 – Canon in D by Pachelbel The ideal piece to walk down the aisle to, Canon in D is unsurprisingly kicking off our top 10! 9 – Can You Feel the Love Tonight from The Lion King This was most requested song for 2021 but it’s still held onto the Top 10 for 2022 – it’s one of my absolute favourites to play and a real classic! 8 – Better Together by Jack Johnson This is most frequently requested to be played as the newly married couple leave their wedding ceremony and I can see why! It’s such an upbeat song and perfect to take your first walk as newlyweds! 7 – How Long Will I Love You by Ellie Goulding Ah, my heart! I absolutely love this song and especially playing it for a couple on their wedding day when I know it is a very special piece of music for many people. 6 - Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles A classic! There had to be some Beatles in the top 10! This is so much fun to play as a harpist and I love how everyone instantly recognises it. You can’t be sad listening to this song! 5 - All of Me by John Legend This song holds a special meaning for me as I played it for one of my close friends as she walked down the aisle. This is perfect for entrance, signing of the register or during your drinks reception – anytime really! 4 - Your Song by Elton John We very nearly chose this for our first dance song because it’s just so lush! All your guests will recognise it straight away and be humming along – which I love! 3 - A Million Dreams from The Greatest Showman This song works so beautifully on the harp and is often chosen for either the processional or signing of the register. The first few bars are magical and instantly relax everyone! 2 – Can’t Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley This is probably one of my favourite tunes to play as a harpist, it’s very relaxing and a gorgeous love song! 1 – A Thousand Years by Christina Perri You guessed it! Was there ever any doubt this would make the top spot?! This song is absolutely PERFECT for an entrance into the ceremony as it can be stopped at pretty much anytime, depending on how long your aisle is. If this has given you some inspiration for your wedding music, get in touch to start the journey!
