About

Harp
I have been playing the harp since 2004 when she saw a picture of one at school and thought it looked pretty!

After studying at The Royal College of Music Junior Department with amazing teachers, I eventually chose to study the clarinet full time at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

However, on graduating and entering the world as a professional musician, I moved back to Rutland where I grew up. This is where I rediscovered by love for the harp and at my first wedding booking for a family friend, I discovered how much I love weddings.

I feel so privileged to be booked for a wedding or any event. It shows such faith and trust in my abilities, and it shows that you want to make your event unique. So many of your guests will never have seen a harp up close; I may be biased but it's pretty beautiful!

I have been described as a "creative beast" by Michael Collins, world-renowned clarinettist and always
put my heart and soul into all my performances. I have been lucky enough to perform for audiences including The Vamps, Michael Parkinson, Her Grace The Duchess of Rutland and HRH The Prince of Wales.

It was spellbinding to hear such a wonderful instrument played so professionally.

Where can I see Harriet play?

Harriet has been playing the clarinet since the age of 8 and became a Music Scholar at Oakham School age 11. Here she had many musical opportunities which have helped formed her musical preferences, including leading the school Big Band.

In 2007, she commenced her studies at the Royal College of Music Junior Department where she studied clarinet with Guy Cowley. There she also played in the Saxophone Ensemble, Clarinet Choir and Symphony Orchestra. Her final concert with RCMJD was a memorable occasion at St. John's Smith Square, London.

Age 16, Harriet auditioned for the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and was offered a place at audition. She began her studies in 2011 with John Cushing, former principal clarinet of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and saxophone with Lawrence Gill. While studying at RCS, Harriet took part in many varied projects including Wind Orchestra, Plug (RCS's contemporary music festival), operas, Symphony Orchestra, chamber music and musicals. It was the latter that made an impression on Harriet and she was lucky enough to be invited to play in the band for RCS's productions of The Addams Family and The Girl Who at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014. She has also played on Children in Need and for the RCS's productions of West Side Story, Legally Blonde and Carousel.

While at RCS, Harriet took part in masterclasses with Timothy Lines, Claudio Conti, Matthew Hunt and Michael Collins as well as playing with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, The Oracle Ensemble and The Royal Scottish National Orchestra. She also took part in a tour of Tuscany with Raucous Rossini, a student led opera project aimed at discovering Rossini's shorter operas!

Harriet is available for concerts, workshops and lessons in clarinet, she also teaches saxophone and flute.
