Although I have lived in Rutland for almost 20 years, it took me a good 17 to get inside Normanton Church, and I have never looked back. Able to hold up to 3 weddings a day, it's no surprise this iconic venue is so popular. Let me give you my reasons why I love Normanton Church Weddings.

The Location

It cannot be denied that Normanton Church sits in one of the most beautiful settings in Rutland. Any time of day, or weather, the venue looks amazing.

The History

Rutland Water has an amazing history and there are plenty of stories of communities coming together, either to fight the build, or to campaign for its completion. One of the biggest success stories is Normanton Church, a building that was partially saved from being flodded by the reservoir by a group of determined supporters. Instead, the lower two thirds of the building were filled in and what we see today is just the very top of this iconic church.

Watch this short clip for more on the history of Rutland Water.

The Staff

Since the first day I met Jonny and the team at Normanton Church, I have loved them. So welcoming, fun and professional, it's always a pleasure to work with them. This attitude extends to every couple that choose Normanton Church for their big day, no issue is too big or small for the amazing team.

Every Wedding is Different

You would imagine that a venue that once hosted over 180 weddings one year that it can all get a bit boring after a while. But Normanton Church is a beautiful blank canvas (except the props supplied in the church by the venue and Rutland Events)  and couples can choose to decorate it in virtually any way they wish. But having played at over 20 weddings here myself, I can certainly say that less is more and the venue shines in its own beautiful way.

Rutland Events & Marquees can also organise your reception over at Whitwell - why not catch the Rutland Belle over Rutland Water with your guests on board, booked exclusively for your day? Catch it from right outside Normanton Church and jump off virtually next to your reception venue! It doesn't get more Rutland than that!

The Acoustic

Playing in Normanton Church is such a treat for me, I absoutely love it. The sound of the harp simply soars through the space, and I always adore the way the instrument sounds - much better than at home!

The Logistics

When I play a Normanton Church, I just relax. Everything about the setup there is so simple for me: the venue supply a seat for me and I need only make one trip from the car to the Church - an absolute luxury for a harpist! Parking for suppliers and disabled guests is as close to the church as it's possible to get, you just don't need to worry about anything.

Your guests can enjoy the walk from the car park taking in the amazing views across Rutland Water to Hambleton, all in the comfort of knowing their parking is paid for!

It's Utterly Unique!

What other wedding venue can you walk up to on a Sunday afternoon? If you feel like you need a bit of time and space away (especially at the moment!) you can take a seat outside the place where you married your best friend!
