Music for your Wedding Exit
You’ve been proclaimed as a married couple, your guests are asked to stand as you leave your wedding ceremony.
So what music do you choose to accompany your first walk as spouses?
As a wedding harpist in Lincolnshire and the East Midlands, I’ve performed for over 300 weddings and know exactly what sets the right tone to take you and your guests from the formality of the wedding ceremony to the more relaxed setting of your drinks reception.
Read on for my top recommendations for music to leave your wedding ceremony…

It Must Be Love - Madness
This is an absolute classic, a really upbeat and instantly recognisable song that sounds fantastic played on the harp.
Marry You - Bruno Mars
One of my most requested songs to play on the harp, Marry You hits just the right note of being energetic but not too fast.
You're My Best Friend - Queen
I mean you’ve just married your best friend, so why not proclaim it to the world? This Queen song has a great bass line which works so well on the harp and can be repeated as many times as is needed for your guests to leave your ceremony.
Wedding March from A Midsummer Night’s Dream - Mendelssohn
If you’re after a more classical piece of music, the traditional Wedding March is a very safe bet. It’s joyful, timeless and really sets the tone, especially for a church wedding.
Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles
For a more gentle exit song, Here Comes The Sun is perfect. It can be repeated endlessly so that all your guests leave your ceremony to music playing, and it’s got such upbeat and positive lyrics that you really can’t go wrong!
Better Together - Jack Johnson
This has been a firm favourite for a long time and I have performed it at so many weddings I’ve lost count! Jazzy, gentle and definitely a millenial music staple, I love playing this for a wedding exit.
I'm Yours - Jason Mraz
If you were born a milennial, then you know this song. It’s got a really laid back but funky feel which works perfectly played on the harp.
This lovely piece of music is a pretty permanent fixture in wedding ceremonies, and works for both the signing of the register and your wedding exit. It’s got so much joy attached to it (especially if you know the film) and is a whimsical way to end your wedding ceremony.
