Top Country House Venues in the UK for Weddings with Live Harp Music

One of the greatest joys of being a wedding harpist is playing in some of Britain’s most beautiful country houses. There’s something about these historic homes — full of character, surrounded by glorious gardens — that makes them the perfect setting for romantic ceremonies and elegant celebrations. And as a musician, I can’t help but delight in a room where the acoustics allow every note of the harp to resonate warmly.

Here are five of my favourite country house venues where live harp music feels truly at home:
Picture
Holmewood Hall, Cambridgeshire

Holmewood Hall is a stunning Tudor Gothic mansion tucked away in the Cambridgeshire countryside. It has the perfect balance of grandeur and intimacy. The Gold Room, where most couples say their vows, is a favourite of mine — rich in character, with high ceilings, large windows, and just the right warmth to allow harp music to gently fill the space. I’ve also played for drinks receptions in the beautiful grounds, where guests relax on the terrace while soft melodies float through the air. Holmewood Hall always feels like a private retreat, making every wedding there feel wonderfully personal.
Prestwold Hall, Leicestershire

Prestwold Hall is a Georgian country house set in parkland near Loughborough, and it remains one of my favourite venues in the East Midlands. It’s elegant without being intimidating, and the family home feel gives it a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. The Marble Hall, where many ceremonies are held, has fantastic acoustics — the harp sounds exquisite in this space, adding grace and serenity as couples say their vows. For the reception, the Library and Drawing Room are ideal for relaxed drinks, with music creating the perfect backdrop to conversation and celebration.
Stubton Hall, Nottinghamshire

Stubton Hall has such a light and airy feel, making it a real treat to play in. The Grand Hall, with its sweeping staircase and beautiful natural light, is a dream location for a ceremony. The Orangery, overlooking the gardens, is equally lovely — especially in spring or summer, when I often play for drinks receptions as guests spill outside to enjoy the views. The harp seems to suit Stubton’s romantic yet relaxed atmosphere perfectly, providing an elegant musical accompaniment without ever feeling intrusive.
Irnham Hall, Lincolnshire

Irnham Hall is close to my heart, being just a stone’s throw from home. This privately-owned family home feels intimate and steeped in history. The Orangery is where most couples tie the knot, and it offers a warm, inviting acoustic that allows harp music to really shine. Whether playing classical favourites or contemporary love songs, I always feel that the harp brings something special to ceremonies here. And on a summer’s day, the gardens are the most beautiful setting for an outdoor drinks reception with music floating on the breeze.
Rushton Hall, Northamptonshire

Rushton Hall is a venue full of timeless grandeur. Its 16th-century architecture and elegant interiors create the perfect backdrop for a classic wedding. I particularly love playing in the Ballroom, where the high ceilings allow the harp’s notes to carry beautifully. The Orangery, flooded with natural light, is another favourite — it feels serene and peaceful, exactly what you want for a wedding ceremony. Rushton’s sense of history and luxury makes it a truly special place to play.
If you’re dreaming of a country house wedding, live harp music could be the perfect finishing touch to your day. I’d love to help you create the perfect soundtrack for your celebration.
