Supplier Spotlight: Toastworthy Events

Toastworthy Events is the brainchild of Natalie Walker, based near Grantham. We met on Instagram after both joining the amazing Wedding Business Club, a coaching group created by Faye Cornhill. Both being local, we decided to go for a coffee and I took the opportunity to go behind the scenes with a wedding planner...
Natalie has always wanted to work for herself but describes herself as being "unemployable". She graduated with a Physics degree and went straight into a graduate scheme with a consultancy firm. She spent 18 months on this scheme and eventually moved to work for TSB as a project manager. Luckily she left a month before the bank's collapse!

She then moved to be a project manager for a small company in financial software. She loved working on different projects and liasing between different parties but eventually realised she wanted to see a project right to the end, as most of her projects were two years in the making.

Having planned her own wedding and her husband was "only interested in the cake" she harboured dreams of being a wedding planner. She said the "only thing stopping her was" herself and so she embarked on Faye Cornhill's Booked in 90 Course. This was the turnaround that she needed and Toastworthy Events was born.

Toastworthy Events is a wedding planning service with a difference. Natalie felt with her own wedding that the venue wedding coordinator did not run the day at all and this added stress to the day. Natalie said she would have wanted help with the planning and definitely would have liked a proactive on the day planner - so she decided to never let this happen to other couples. She offers something for those that need help but don't want to relinquish control of their big day, and run up to it.

She works on a rolling month basis so that you can have help at any point in your planning process. She can start by kicking things off for you - arranging a date, getting an idea of style and stopping you from being too "pin happy". Natalie said many couples have a dream wedding board on Pinterest but this actually becomes a mish mash of different styles! She can also help with your budget (she's a self confessed spreadsheet lover) and provide a reality check on those decisions that may not quite be within your financial reach.... I think we all need one of these!

Natalie describes Toastworthy Events as honest, logical and silly. She definitely tells it how it is and her pragmatic approach takes the emotion out of some of the planning process - for example, your heart wants something but your head knows you can't afford it: she will guide you towards the head! However, while she is taking care of the little details, you can have the all the fun of planning your big day.

When you book Natalie, you get at least 2 face-to-face (or over Skype) meetings a month so that you can all really get to know each other. She will keep you up to date with everything that's going on via a WhatsApp group. It takes on average 300 hours to plan a wedding, and doing it well adds more time! Let her do it for you!

Although we possibly don't like to admit it, every supplier has a favourite wedding they've worked on. For Natalie, this was the first wedding she was booked for, about which she said she was ecstatic. That first couple putting their faith in you is so important. It was a very personal wedding in a barn in the Peak District and Natalie's favourite thing about the wedding was having to come up with immediate solutions to problems the couple hadn't forseen - for example, the cake needed self-assembly! A tricky job for anyone!

Outside of work, Naalie is a board game fanatic, she loves walking her dog and creating Gluten Free deliciousness in her kitchen.

It's been a joy getting to know Natalie over the past few months and I can't wait to work with her more!

    Welcome!

Welcome to the blog of Harriet Flather Musician!

I’ve wanted to do this for a while and now feel I have found sufficient inspiration to deliver content that you will find interesting and engaging! I’m hoping to cover a lot of different things here: a description of my week and give you an insight into the life of a freelance musician; some resources for music teaching; information on weddings such as music and why you should have a harpist; and finally I’m going to be bringing in some guests to chat to you about what they do as well!

I hope you enjoy, writing is a fairly new venture for me but it’s good to be back in the proverbial saddle.
