Finding the perfect music to accompany your entrance into your wedding ceremony can be tough – how can you choose from the millions of tunes out there? As a harpist who has played at over 200 weddings, I’ve got a pretty good idea of what works well, and there might be a few surprises in there! A Thousand Years – Christina Perri I have been asked to play this song for over 20 wedding ceremonies, and counting, and there’s a reason – it might just be the perfect wedding entrance song. It’s instantly recognisable from those first few chords, it’s gentle and encourages you to walk slowly (a must!) down the aisle. But the best thing about this song is that the verses and chorus aren’t too long, meaning it can be brought to a tasteful close at any point. Canon in D – Pachelbel It’s a classic for a reason! I think this is one of the most beautiful pieces for a wedding: it’s traditional, has a beautiful melody and works on virtually any instrument. The piece is essentially eight bars and chords repeated again and again so it can stop at virtually any point. Beautiful! Can You Feel the Love Tonight – Elton John This song, from Disney’s “The Lion King,” is a fantastic choice for a wedding entrance. The melody is gentle and romantic, and most wedding parties have reached the top of the aisle by the end of one verse and chorus. It’s a timeless piece that adds a touch of magic and nostalgia to your big moment. A Million Dreams – The Greatest Showman “A Million Dreams” from “The Greatest Showman” is perfect for those who want a grand entrance. The song builds beautifully to the chorus, allowing for a dramatic and emotional walk down the aisle. It’s inspiring and uplifting, setting the perfect tone for the beginning of your new journey together. Beauty & The Beast – Disney The title song from Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is instantly recognisable and has universal appeal. Its lovely, gentle tune makes it a wonderful choice for a wedding entrance. The melody is enchanting and brings a sense of timeless romance to your ceremony, making it a perfect fit for a fairytale wedding. Choosing the right music for your wedding entrance can set the tone for the entire ceremony. For more wedding music inspiration, check out my blog: Choosing the Music for Your Wedding.
